Its Monday and my day for cleaning the bathroom and bedrooms…….OH once more in the garden. We seem to have mislaid a bracket for a hanging basket which is bugging both of us. I know we bought one, can I find it??? No!!!

I have placed the plants we got yesterday for OH to put in when the sun has gone down a bit. Its been another glorious day, great to get laundry dry outside.

OH spent a while raking dead moss out. The lawn is in very bad shape, lots of moss, dandelions, daisy’s and bare patches. We treated it a couple of weeks ago. OH cut it yesterday so today raked out the dead vegitation, he filled two bags with moss and dead weeds, more to do tomorrow.

Thank you to the kind lady who offered me the campanula I was after, I await the post eagerly.

I sent for some pacific giant delphiniums, when they came I was very disappointed with the condition, so I complained and they sent me another lot. The arrived on Saturday morning in worse condition to the first lot, only one of eight showed any sign of life. I emailed a complaint and they have refunded me the money…..result. I am trying to fill the back of the garden borders with tall herbaceous plants and the delphiniums were part of the plan.

I was very pleased to see that the compassion climbing rose that I cut down to three buds which looked like they might go has in fact got one very strong stem and two smaller ones coming, I also noticed it is putting up a bud from just above the graft. I doubt it will flower this year, but I am pleased its doing so well.

I was also sent 10 hosta roots. I put them all in a very large pot, gratified to see that 4 are shooting. When they get bigger I will put them into separate pots. I was also given 3 begonia corms last year. I forgot to take them out before the winter, so they went through all the snow and ice. I left them on the decking in the shade of a pot, one of them has also started to show signs of growth, so it has been potted up. The other two seem as if they might have given up the goast but you never know.

I have penstemons at the back of my border, not as tall as delphiniums but very hardy and very reliable.

Hmmmm thanks for that, something to go into my reference book for when I go to the nursery. I had also thought of using phlox, I seem to remember they grow quite large in the right conditions.

I love Delphiniums but they do tend to have heir pro elms. Most are very short lived in my heavy clay, also, the new shoots seem to be delicious and irresistible to slugs and snails.Trouble is, some springs, by time I've thought to look, they've been devoured!! Good luck with all your plants!!

I often can't find things. You are not alone there. I search for days, and then suddenly there it is right under my nose !
