Most of the Crocosmia ‘Lucifer ’ are now in flower…I love these, and although a lot of you have seen this border a few times..I thought I would show it at it’s best in summer..
firstly with the Miscanthus Zebrina grass..

A few White daisies and first yellow Achillea just coming into flower

Overall view…

Still waiting for Echinops to flower..so looking forward to those..:o)

A lovely display Sandra, the colours all look so bright and fresh together, mu Lucifer has buds but not quite as advanced as years, have you any Lysmachia that would look well in there too, I ve lots if you havent got any ;0)

Thank you for all your kind comments..they always seem to do well at the back of the border...I always look forward to seeing them, and all the rain has done wonders for them ..even one of the Cosmos,in front of the Crocosmia,is almost as tall ,this year.....and Carole,I split the Lysimachia you gave me,but it is to the left, and just out of shot...but looking very nice :o)

A stunning border which really looks beautiful. The colours in it are lovely, and the tall plants are at the back and the shorter plants are at the front just as they should be.....if only mine were!!!

Thank you,Chris..as you will see, that is some wall I needed to cover ...so these help a lot,in summer..and as for the others,..well I have had the odd few planting mistakes..haven't we all.! sometimes you don't realise how tall one plant will get..I need to move a small Rudbeckia, which is being hidden by a show off Fuchsia !

Wow Sandra, that boarder looks great. I love the background wall. It looks old and mellowed. Great pics Jxx

Thanks Jane..the wall is at the back of a Bowling green,we look out on,from the kitchen...it is quite old ,but lovely..glad you liked the border...how is all your glass making coming on this week ? hope you are managing ok :o) x

Aggggggggggh. Had a very busy weekend selling and then a busy day today. The downside is I now need to make more stock as have a big fair this weekend in York. Got this evening/night and then 2 more days. No gardening :o( although son no 1 wants me to take him down to Sheffield tomorrow with all his stuff for his new house, so setting off at 6am, so I can get back to work. Am finding 3 stalls a week a bit too much, as I keep selling a lot and then having to make loads more. I think an economist would tell me I'm not charging enough!! Jx

I don't know how you keep up ,Jane..you must have so much stamina and energy..a fair drive to Sheffield and back too, still if it's early enough ..just be careful not to get caught in rush hour traffic !..Maybe you could charge a bit more then,as people seem happy to pay for your skills :o)

I love the last pic Bloomer, the border looks perfect. How come you have no flattened plants? :o))

26 Jul, 2012

Thank you,Annella...they aren't flattened, because there are yards and yards of twine and garden canes all over the place! Lol..The Pyracantha branches come in very handy for tying the Crocosmia's to,....The only ones that got flattened were the Sidalcea's,which were too top heavy when they flowered...I am working on that for next year !..so you see,not perfect at all..:o))

Beautiful Sandra. Aren't gardens lovely this time of year :o)

26 Jul, 2012

Thank you,Hywel..they certainly are..we seem to have all waited so long to see them at their best..:o)

It looks fantastic Sandra....still loving the stone too. Lucifer grows like a weed here, I'm always giving it away, there's even some of mine in Spritz's garden:-))

28 Jul, 2012

Thanks Ba..I have given lots away over the years too..a lot of it is gracing the borders of a grassed area at the local school...A local MP started a little gardening club with the children,so it is looking nice and colourful now :o)

28 Jul, 2012

That is such a beautiful border Bloomer, it does look perfect :-)

29 Jul, 2012

Thanks,Willi,it does look good ..from a distance..it is so full this year, with all the rain,I can't even get in and among to see what shouldn't be growing there ! ..no worrieds,it will give me something to do before long :o)

30 Jul, 2012

I agree with everyone Bloomer, your border looks lovely, this is the first year my Lucifer has more than one flower spike, if I had room I'd have a big patch of them....:))

30 Jul, 2012

Thank you Janey..I wonder why that is,as mine has to be split on a regular basis..maybe your's is only getting established...but I am lucky I have those big spaces to fill :o)
