Hope

It’s hard to have hope when it seems the weather gods have gone on vacation! My hydrangeas are wilting..and the monarda..and the bush beans! I’m publicly complaining in hopes that they will say: “Tut! Tut!… silence that silly woman!” and send three or four days of warm gentle rain… what chance would you say I had? I’d settle for a monsoon at this point. I’m seconded by the frogs…their pond is looking sludgy and the lily pads are rising out of the water! (Lots of pretty blossom though.) I’ve rationed the remaining water in the water butt and everyone get’s his/her share..albeit meager. The tomatoes were planted pretty deep so I think they’re doing better than the cucumbers and the chard… planted Romas this year as they are prolific and the tomatoes are perfect salad size..or munching size, and they’re also great for sauce.
It’s August..and August is always a hot dry month…Oh dear! It could rain tomorrow I suppose. How great would that be? “Hope is the thing with feathers…” or perhaps it’s a frog…

I hope you get some rain Lori....it seems one extreme or the other doesn't it?

How about a little raindance tonight lori or an offering of wild blueberries to the weathergod...if you haven't eaten them all that is. If sandra and stera are going to share their rain I will chip in too, with a side portion of wind maybe... in spite of the frequent showers the soil is bone dry, as these dratted viscous winds suck all the moisture out and I have to water every day. That's good news karen I wasn't aware that the ozone situation had changed!

Thanks for your good wishes, all! I would gladly share any you had to offer in return for the never ending (or so it seems) sunshine. Very true about the winds, M. We've had constant winds and breezes.. It helps a little when sweating over a weedy bed but ultimately it's taking any moisture available and whisking it away. We have had fleecy skies and even thunderheads but beyond the odd big ploppy drop... not even enough to register on the scale, it's been nyet, nada, nothing! I just made my evening rounds and the garden looks droopy and sad.
Yes, I read the good news on the NASA site, Karen. Now if we could just do the same with carbon as trichlorofluouromethane...we'd be on the way to success. Speaking of internet "news" ;-) my son posted a page which showed how towers were built to extract the carbon out of polluted air and put it under pressure to produce diamonds from air pollution. Now that's creating value from nothing! You're wise if you don't believe anything your read on the internet!

I guess I do sound pretty anxious. The sun is setting and there are some cumulus clouds forming... oh for a nice thunder boomer with lots of lovely rain. ready for a raindance!
