Iris Time

The bearded iris are early to flower this year due to the long hot spell here in Bracknell in April.

There are also several non-bearded iris (or clean-shaven iris as my non-gardening friend calls them)

Iris xiphium (Spanish iris)

Iris innominata, a dwarf iris growing from rhizomes

Iris ‘Holden Clough’

And the moisture loving iris chrysographes

The iris sibirica are still to come so May is going to be awash with these beauties this year

Hopefully if we get a baking summer they should be even better in years to come. I love your clean shaven irises! I think they look like lipstick when the buds first come.
