New Hedychium

Hedychium grow really well here, to the point that if you aren’t careful they will become invasive. Today I have 3 in bloom.
First is the white species, Hedychium coronarium.

It grows very enthusiastically, and while it has the best scent, may not be worth having.
Then there is the Hedychium ‘Elizabeth’. A soft pink that bloomed once before, but is at it again.

Blooming for the first time is Hedychium ‘Vanilla Ice’. What sets this apart is the variegated foliage and the pale apricot flowers with darker centers.

I am about half way through the Nerines opening and running out of Amaryllis belladonnas to cross with them. The current one that is fully open is Nerine ‘Lost Dreams’.

The seeds on the Amaryllis belladonna ‘Rose Fonce’ are beginning to burst out of their pods and fall to the ground, where they will germinate quickly.

Thanks for introducing this plant to me. Hedychium 'Vanilla Ice' is a real stand out.

they are all beautiful. I love 'Elizabeth' but I am biased as that is my eldest girl's name. I love the subtle variegation of vanilla ice too.

How wonderful are they? I did have one once, but due to my neglect it didn't survive the winter! The Nerine is also stunning, such an lovely combination of colours.

Thanks! I am really enjoying all these colors (the H. rubrum in dark orange opened again today). They are grouped in one area so I can get the full effect.
