Have you noticed?

Have you noticed that the bird song seems louder, the scents smell sweeter, and the skies are quieter?

Our surroundings have become more tranquil and the pace of life has slowed right down.

It still isn’t easy at times but having time to just look, as well times to be busy, is something to treasure.

At the end of my blog is my favourite narcissus in the garden. It came in a bag of assorted bulbs, if you know its name please tell me.

Thanks to all of you on GoY for your lovely photos and advice and news.
xx

Now, help me if you can! A name for this please?

Happy gardening everybody. 🌼🌸🌼😊😊

your blog is full of sunshine. It is good to have time to stop and stare. There are so many different narcissus but if no one offers an ID have a look at this web site and look for a match to your daffodil

Wow, spring's certainly arrived in your lovely garden Chris, afraid I don't know the name of your favourite daffodil, but a narcissus by any other name etc ......:-)

Lovely thoughtful blog Chris. Yes, we have noticed the absence of con trails and hardly a plane in the sky, and the birds singing lustily. Apart from having to cancel a holiday when I would have met Steragram, and missing playing croquet and meeting friends for coffee, the isolation isn’t too bad.

I do feel for those living alone though, and those without a garden ... we are the lucky ones 🙂.

Your narcissus is stunning - hope you get a name!

Really lovely blog, Chris. I could almost smell all the gorgeous fragrances through my iPad! Pic 9 and 10, 14 and 15 are my faves. Beautifully captured..

Ps. Hywel, you aren’t moaning at all, it’s understandable how you are feeling at the moment..it must feel very quite and still for you. Hopefully, things will change for the best soon, the noises you will enjoy are the birds and wildlife in the garden x

Lovely photos. That Daff is gorgeous. No traffic noise when the winds in the wrong direction, no aircraft overhead, just the small children yelling at one another cause they won't share their toys.

What a lovely happy blog, and beautiful sunny photos. Its been a lovely day to be indoors here. Far too cold and windy to be out in again. But i enjoyed your photos. A lot less traffic on our road, which is nice, and the Curlews are still feeding at the back, so I watch then every day. They are very beautiful, and won’t be here much longer I expect. I’m hoping for a day that isn’t painful to be outside in soon!

I think the Narcissus is ‘White Lion’. :)

Lovely photos Chris, and that view across the field is fantastic. I'm glad you're enjoying the bird song and peace that's everywhere now :)

Thank you, there are some lovely, caring people who look at this site.
xx

Karen I have looked at many descriptions and images of 'White Lion' and it must be that one.

I thought if it had come to you in a mixed bag, it was likely to be a popular variety, easily available, so I googles double daffodil varieties and up came this one and I immediately thought...that’s it. Its a stunner! I hope you get some more. I’m tempted to get some myself!

This is a heritage daffodil/narcissus. It has an interesting pedigree. Have a look at
https://daffseek.org/detail-page/?cultivar=White%20Lion&auto=1
Ck this was for sale in Dobbies Garden centres last autumn.

Thanks to you Karen and to Scotsgran too. Let's all try to get some in the autumn!
I really appreciate the trouble you have both gone to.

Lots of lovely colours there, I do think that tulips look really good as mixed colours, more showy somehow. I assume that the fourth picture is Spirea Goldflame which I also have and looks stunning at this time of year.

You have some gorgeous bulbs Chris. Unfortunately a lot of mine went with the fox !
Its been lovely here and have been able to sit in the garden and have lunch out there ! Today was more like a summers day too, although there is cold winds coming in from the N.E. which we will feel living right on the east coast!
You are right about the signs of spring though ! We have quite a few birds nesting. I love this time of year and like you , don't mind staying at home !
The fourth picture looks like a shrub I have, but I know its not the Gold Flame as its quite large. I have forgotten its name, so wondered if you knew it as I am sure you can.
Take care and keep safe! xx

What beautiful photos, I think this enforced sit-in has made us appreciate our gardens much more.

Lovely blog, thank you, & yes I've certainly noticed how quiet & peaceful it is. No sound of planes, only the occasional car, & the birds singing their hearts out.

Oh dear.,sorry,Chris, another one I've missed.well, not entirely correct.I DID see it,but forgot to add a comment ,so here I am ! It all looks so fresh and colourful, and I also love the mixed colours of your Tulips..in fact,I prefer then to one Variety..i think I might do that myself next year ! The birds singing are wonderful,in these quiet traffic free days, and less pollution can only be beneficial.. .We feel very fortunate to be of the age, that we can stay at home ,and not worry about having to work,or worse still ,have no job to go back to..I'm counting my blessings in that regard,as long as we keep safe.Enjoy your lovely garden my friend :o) x
