Summer on Scilly

We spent a lovely holiday with our family on the Isles of Scilly and I would like to share a few scenic photos of a place that we love.

It was very special for us to see our grand children enjoying the freedom they get on Scilly in exactly the same way that our sons did when they were little!

It took a lot of organising to get three families across that small stretch of sea beyond Land’s End but to have everybody with us in our favourite place was well worth it.

Thank you for coming with me, it is such a peaceful place where nature, the weather and the tides are in charge!

I have always wanted to go..but it will never be. Too travel sick. But I so enjoyed your photos. It looks like going back about 70 years in time....just so relaxed...and so sunny too! :)

What a heavenly place - it looks as though you had good weather too.
That's a splendid shot of the twins stranding on the cromlech (at least that's what they are called in Wales, it might be different in Scilly)

Lovely Chris - lovely photos, and you took me back to imagining the wild 'white' bluebells alongside the lanes. So glad you had such a great family holiday.

Karen - we flew from Land's End a couple of years ago: just 8 people on a ten minute flight - easy! And the plane is met by bus/taxi drivers who ask everyone where they're staying, then take them there: so friendly.

Lovely comments from you all, thanks to everyone for looking.

Yes Hywel it is a heavenly place. To watch the children run free on nearly deserted beaches was a wonderful sight in this day and age.

Thank you so much for sharing your family get-together with us. It looks as if all the planning was worth while. Gorgeous weather too, to make it all perfect. What a wonderful place Scilly is, no wonder it's special to you. You have a wonderful family too to share it with.

Many thanks for these more recent comments. You all say such lovely things.

It was a really happy time and the children really enjoyed the great outdoors and the freedom they had to explore.
I hope we get the chance to do it all again one day. Shame they live such a long distance from us.

Great to see blue skies & sunny days. How lovely to have 3 generations all holidaying together.
I went to Sicily many years ago but it wasn't such a success because I was missing my 6 mth old baby too much.
We went up Mt Etna on the North side - it was like being on the moon, lol. Two weeks after we had returned we heard Etna had erupted.
