The end of the summer is a bittersweet turning point. We look forward to the gold leaves and the bright stars. But nature does not forget winter. So on we go….The Fall landscape in Pawlet Vt. The sky changes to a clear blue with golden hues floating through. The trees follow with an array of color. As long as there is good weather, they remain. When the first big rain comes they all flutter away. We must go back and once more look at summer.

The climbing rose nods it’s head.

The birds fly off from their soft spot.

The Fall Chrysanthemums begin to appear.

Evening shadows come earlier.

Beautiful tall yellow Zinnia grown from seed.

The winter Pansy shows her face.

Pinkish Red Sedum

A Dinner Plate Dahlia

Did you know the Snapdragon has teeth?

Let's hope it's a mild winter this year Wells. That Zinnia is really gorgeous! Looking forward to your 'fall colour' photos.

Lovely pictures, with so much colour. As we've already had a frost this year I hope that doesn't mean we're in for another bad winter :( Fingers crossed.

It is beautiful sunshine again here today, but about noon the wind started to get up and it's freezing out there now. Bright sunshine and freezing cold....could be January!

Love your pics there Wells, autumn weather for us too, lots of wind and lashing rain for the next few days. We had a gorgeous sunny day yesterday which must have travelled northwards to Karen. We've just had a few days in our mountain and lakes area, and the trees are just beginning to show their autumn colour, I'm hoping you'll be posting some of Vermont in the fall on here....:))

It certainly is heading our way Janey, and I'm not looking forward to it! We'll be lucky if there are any leaves left on the trees for autumn colour!

We have had so little rain this summer. But when it does rain, it's a typhoon. Two leaks in our roof from it! I suppose the next thing will be snow. Temps dropped to the 50's which is cold for September. All my chrysanthemums have fully bloomed. The asters are popping too. The rest of the gardens are just holding on with a phlox or two. Autumn color so far is not ideal. It is not brilliant.. But haven't given up on it. Karen, I have three clematis which are just holding on. I like this idea of putting small trees in pots. I have to say again, you are all very inventive with the pots. Keep gardening everyone.
