Food for thought.

Here are a few pics of the edibles I’ve been growing.
Tomatoes are doing well in this heat we’ve had and have been outside since May. I gave up on putting them in growbags and put the contents of the growbags into x large pots instead. These stand in the extra long growbag trays for water retention.

these were from seeds saved from a mix from Lidl of small tomatoes. Red, orange, yellow and purple.

The cucumbers are doing ok

I took my eye off the ball for a couple of days and look what I found

I have grown Chilli chenzo again for it’s black fruits and also a Naga ghost chilli supposed to be one of the hottest there is. I don’t do chilli myself but my grandaughter loves them and has chilli flakes on everything.

While sorting out in the garage I came across some seeds from years ago. One packet was Melon Sweetheart seeds from 2013. Well I gave them a go and Voila!

I’ve never grown them before so any advice gratefully received.

This year started as my annus horribilis due to the continuing uncertainty about the third runway and my house and of course garden. Nearly everything I wanted to take with me is in pots which is a constant round of watering but I hope I’ve got my mojo back now thanks to plants.

Your edibles look great TS! I hope the runway thing will be sorted out soon. Poor you and all the other residents. I hope they never build it. We need LESS planes, not more!

Lovely tomatoes, I've had 3 fruits off my toms, outdoors, but in the greenhouse they're not as well developed as yours, seed ex Waitrose heritage toms.
Lucky to get melons from that old packet of seed, I didn't manage to get a plant from seed from a bought melon, probably an F1.
I feel for you about the uncertainty of the airport extension.

All doing well Thorney, I would hate having all that stress hanging over me, I'm pleased you've got your mojo back again..

Being quite a bit further North my edibles are a few weeks behind yours but similar. Love the look of the plum toms, might make a choice type my main crop next year (would welcome any suggestions?!). My beefsteak are looking a bit strangely shaped, though I could go viral online if any look like amusing body parts...
I've got the black Hungarian Wax types of chillies growing fairly well but Scotch Bonnet & above on the Scoville Scale is too much for me. Nagas are just weapon level?

Interesting to see what you're growing and that they are doing well. Well done on the melon :) I wouldn't mine drying one next year ...
I've never grown chillies (neither of us would eat them )

I didn't know the new runway would affect you. Sre you going to move ?
