About me

This year I seriously got the Streptocarpus Bug and have filled the greenhouse and windosills full of cuttings and plants. Seeds are just showing from my first cross polinating efforts so next year I expect to be over run with Streptocarpus, "Triffids".
I have quite a large garden where I grow my favourite fruit and vegitables. My wife does most of the hanging baskets and flower borders.
I was born here in Heswall in Aug 1939 and after school started work as a trainee bird keeper at Chester Zoo. Af ter eighteen months there I wanted to see the birds in their natural environment so I joined the Merchant Navy and when berthing at all the different ports around the world I made my way into the countryside or jungle to chase the birds. After about four years of this I swallowed the Anchor and was called up for National Service where I did my two years for the Queen. After demob and getting married My wife and I emigrated to Australia in June1966. After 37 years there depression set in and I returned to my roots in January 2003 and from the moment I landed on British soil all stress and depression left me. I met a widowed, childhood sweetheart and we married, and I have been living happily ever after. This would make a fantastic, "Mills and Boon" story.
