Early Colours

An update to my very first question on here, wonderfully identified for me by Seaburngirl as a Rapeseed. Some would no doubt think it a tad weedy but I love it and it is perfectly placed in the Birds’ Half Garden so it’s fine, they love bouncing on the branches.
I’m not massive on bedding plants but I do like these Mimulus as the colour is glorious. These Saxifraga Highlander Red are very pretty too.

Ah, Mimulus. I haven't got any this year. They're fascinating aren't they :)

Lovely sunny colour on your Rapeseed. Is that what I see in some fields making it all look yellow ?

The little tub is pretty :)

Yes Hywel, I'm hoping for a small field of yellow by next year, ha-ha! I only found Mimulus a year or two ago but I love their beautiful 'blotted' colours.

I believe some people are allergic to rapeseed. Sounds as if you aren't , Sunnydais.

Mimulus: so pretty.

I am one of those people who can't be near rapeseed. One of my worst triggers for my hayfever ? but you are right, it does look pretty as so does the Minulus. Haven't had any for years but looking at your makes me think I should get some.

My OH used to sneeze long before the yellow fields came into sight on car journeys, but with a new medication thankfully he never sneezes at anything now, even our two cats. The Mimulus last so long too which is always good news.

Can't abide Rapeseed personally and it gets pulled out when it seeds from the nearby fields, but does look pretty I suppose. I do like the Mimulus, in my youth used to be called Monkey Musk and it used to have a scent, which no-one seems to know why it lost.

That's interesting about the scent of Mimulus disappearing, I much prefer the idea of Monkey Musk, shall call it that from now on, thank you Honeysuckle!

I haven't seen any Mimulus in years, remember I used to grow a lot of them, haven't a clue why I stopped, mustn't grow rape, I'd get shot as it would cause havoc for my daughter, we have enough in the fields for her to cope with, lol, lovely pics Sunnydais..
