golden colour

these are on the beech tree in the garden

Is it just my imagination or are the trees brighter than ever this year? I have just been down to the Maidenhead area for the weekend, travelling down the M40 which seems almost to be alight with blazing colour.

Having driven past the amazing flashes of brilliant colour, the sky then darkened considerably, we drove through a few minutes of heavy raindrops and out the other side to a rainbow! ~ hope you can see it:

In fact we appeared to drive though it! ~ it came down to the road and we drove over it!!

perhaps this was our pot of gold at the end of it? It is now halloween night ~ but i cant see any witches in this sky!

Lovely photo,s and colours Sticki, and i think you are right about them being brighter than usual.I was listening to my gardening programme this morning, and he said he thought they were the best for about 6 years..up here in the North,anyway..

Yes, I've noticed the same, Sticki...the colours are looking very vibrant and the berries are weighing down the branches. I wonder if this points to a harsh winter or is that just a myth?

Your photo of the beech leaves are wonderful :)

sun was shining through them ~ but had to wait for photo ~ in between the showers!

I know what you mean about the leaves on the trees and it seems that some of the shrubs are the same.
The berries on my Pyracantha seem to be very red this year.
Is mother nature trying to tell us something and if so, what?

What a beautiful photo of the beech leaves Sticki, I'd love to have that on my wall :o)) Yes lots of extra lovely autumn colour around this year. I live quite near Maidenhed, lots of drizzle and light rain all day putting a damper on gardening but sadly no rainbow!

rainbow was yesterday ~ i agree too much rain today ~ we were planning to walk near cookham but had a very nice meal in old amersham instead.
thanks for your nice comments ~ i quite fancy that picture on the wall too ~ i have sold some pictures of bluebells ~ perhaps i will try printing out this one in large format and see how it looks??

geraniumdad ~ not sure what nature may be saying ~ usually they say a hard winter if there are lots of berries but not sure what it means if there are bright colours on the trees??? im certain you could do a poem about it tho

Good idea Sticki, can you do it yourself or will you have to get it processed as a photo?

31 Oct, 2010

i can only print out A4 ~ but it gives me an idea of how it will look ~ the other way i can now do that is to put the photo on a memory stick and play it through the tv ~ shows me what it is like as a big picture ~ then if it looks good i will get it printed ~ staples used to be quite reasonable but they have put the prices up recently ~ may still be cheapest option tho??

I love looking at my photos on the TV. We recently got a new one and it has a slot for the camera memory card. They look even better than on the computer and as you say, it's a very good way to see how a large print would look.

yes i couldnt do this till recently ~ with my new tv in the kitchen, takes a bit of fiddling but nice to have ~ i like to have pictures on when i dont want tv on!

just seen in a daily newspaper a double page spread, beautiful photo of Stourhead [Wiltshire?] the paper reports that the trees are noticeably brilliant this year [the best for several years] due to the wet summer and sun in october.
