why is it that as a nation we all decide to go and do our shopping just as places are closing and then grip on because we have to leave.
Take my garden centre, i started there at 7.30am this morning and should have finished at 5pm, but no, for some reason there is a certain clique of customers who just refuse to budge, i politely told them at 4.45 we would be closing shortly, again at 4.50, 4.55 and 5pm, but no they didn’t want to leave.
Dont moan i hear some of you say, they were buying, yes says i but not all of them, some were just standing there talking, and some just take no notice at all, why?
i have gotten into a couple of dissagreements over closing because people think to themselves, well i am here now and they can wait until i have finished, but what they dont realise is we have to close the tills, count the money and lock everywhere up before we leave, surely its not too much to ask….is it.

Its a pain I know, I used to work in a hotel and if I was locking up you can guarantee people would want drinks from the bar when it was cleaned down and tills cashed up, food from the kitchen when the kitchen staff had gone or the turn down service that is done during dinner to be done "now"!!

very rude and frustrating but just bloomin typical

I never bother to go into a store if there is only half hour left before closing time, as I know I have to read the label on everything I buy, and that can takes ages.

How very very annoying for you Steve, i'd be really irritated.
Like Michaella, i would NOT go into a place with just 30 minutes 'til closing if i knew that i was likely to be longer than that ..... it's just very rude and bad mannered.
No, i would definately find it very hard to be polite to those customers.

I went to a pub with my daughters and her friends one evening many years ago and they kept giggling and promising me a "surprise." At closing time I said "come on, we should go" but they were still lingering and patting the large dog who thought he owned the pub. At "Now It's REALLY Time To Go" a word from the real owner turned the passive dog into a whirling banshee complete with Hound of the Baskervilles howling. We went. Worth a try?
