Have been suffering severe withdrawal symptoms – many thanks to the techies who finally sorted the problem and to Dave (Shedman) who passed it over to them.

PS I forgot to thank HANK for his support and interest in the problem, and for contacting Dave for me - not being able to log on there was no way i could ask for help!

I don't know Eileen - I just tried it this afternoon and it worked (it didn't this morning) Thank you for welcome.

So glad your problem was sorted . . . it must have been very frustrating, but somehow you found the right people, so well done you!

The credit goes to Hank Sheila - he messaged Dave for me and kept a close eye on developments. I was really grateful as I couldn't get in to email for help. Its encouraging to know there are still some techies around.

That is indeed great news Stera!

Welcome back Steragram. Hope it's sorted once and for all. I wonder if anybody else was blocked.

Sue, consider switching your browser to FireFox or Chrome. If you already use these, try reinstalling.

There might be some more good news for Linux users that enjoy photography too. There's a version of Gimp being developed called Glimpse. Gets rid of the ugly name & hopefully becomes more user friendly.
I'm looking at how it goes...

The only photography software I use and would recommend is PhotoShop. It's the industry standard.

You're behind the times there BG. Adobe made a massive mistake by locking users into monthly payments & doing stuff in cloud storage. No one likes that.
Luminar 4 with it's AI took the crown recently

I missed you Stera so hope you can stay put now! Lovely to see your name on here again :-)

Thank you Lincslass!
Thank you Wildrose - that's so kind of you! I thought some people might welcome a break from me popping up all the time - couldn't help getting addicted!

Bathgate I always used Adobe Elements which did all I wanted, but it won't run on Linux. And Gimp doesn't have an index, just a contents list. I need a paper copy with an index particularly now my memory lets me down all the time and I need to look things up more than once....
Anyway now I don't actually need it for anything in particular (I used to make greetings cards in aid of a charity) I guess it doesn't matter to me all that much any more. It's just an occasional irritation now.

I always do use Firefox -the fault was at Goy's end and the techies fixed it very quickly as soon as they were notified.

Anyway we have what we have, and compared with 25 years ago its all pretty marvellous so we mustn't grumble...
