We smashed the old record by four degrees(F). A half a degree usually is news.Four,is huge.
Anchorage Alaska had its first year without a subzero temperature.
Arizona and Nevada also had warmest ever years.
The east coast of the USA was one of the few areas in the world that actually had a below average winter.

Take today- I expected a cool 60f day. It warmed to 69f. Like a spring day.

If next year is warmer?. Is that something to enjoy or worry over?

The inclination is to worry but it wouldn't make any difference. I guess both we and the plants will have to learn to adapt.Part of Alaska without ice? Wow.

I notice too...the birds are active. I get a lot of big crows around my property. A native wild Walnut tree is used for food, and the Crows have learned- drop the nuts in the street or my driveway, and cars will smash them open. Smart birds.
And those tiny tit-birds were scratching around. Like moving pebbles. Tiny.
Just a whole awakening in early January that you might expect here in late February..March? something like that.
