Shady Area

On the right of the entry to the back garden an area of dry shade

Podophyllum Spotty Dotty with its red flowers hanging from under the leaves.
Arisaema costatum has increased from the one stem to several, the leaves just unfurling and showing this years flower.
On the right by the trellis Polygonatum cirrifolium with small lilac bell flowers up the tall stems

In front of this grouping is where I am going to plant out the Arisaema flavum as at 40cm is shorter than the above.

Asarum delvayi Giant is in front of these, quite ground hugging. It has finished flowering, so I include the photo of it flowering in March this year.

A little further along into the garden, still shady is where I am starting a Roscoea collection, but they are plants in development, ie only tiny.

I'm sure you're fibbing about the small size of your garden, Siris ;-)
Seriously, as I've rarely had a shady area to plant, I'm not at all familiar with these interesting plants. Thanks for showing.

lovely Siris, I have several of these too.

Anget having a lot of shade has opened up a world of amazing plants. Hosta's and Ferns are wonderful and have their place but Like Siris I do enjoy growing others.

I have a north-facing garden, Sbg, but very little shade, except by the house. So no borders there.
