Busy Bee

I watched this Bee trying to find the way into a Snapdragon flower . . . so pleased it made it!

Just a short blog, but lovely to see the Bees around today after the rain.

Amazing that you just happened to have a camera handy!
Did you love playing with snapdragon flowers when you were little! (I did)

me too Yorks. One of my earliest memories, I'd be about 3, is being encouraged by my Uncle Charlie to put my finger in like a bee. Then my youngest brother [a whole 2 1/2 yrs older than me] started screaming out as if in pain. WEll it scared the life out of me and I ended up crying. He didnt half get told off. He remembers it clearly too as our uncle rarely told us off.

Fab photos!

Memories Seaburn! We used to pull the flowers from the white dead nettle and suck the sweetness from them. Chew the new leaves of the Hawthorn which was called 'bread and cheese' and eat the acorns as well as cutting the tops off the sugar beet and scooping out the insides for the sugary taste. Country kids!
Lovely close-up photo, clever little things, I wonder how much the flower lip weighs in comparison to the bee. Must be a bit like heaving up a dustbin lid with your nose!

Honeysuckle, you've brought back so many memories for me. I also ate nature's 'sweets' but I don't think you'd get today's modern kids to do it.
A great picture Shirley.

Thanks Sandra, the Lavender in the front garden seems to always be crowded with Bees too.

I like the photos of the bee trying its hardest to get inside the Snapdragon flower to get at the nectar!

I remember squeezing them as well & my brothers & I had a great time playing with them! I've even shown my gkids to squeeze them as well! 😂

Being brought up in the middle of London I never got to do the things you got up to, Honeysuckle! 😂

David, in the evening yesterday the Lavender was a favourite for Moths.

I didn't know Lavenders were attractive to moths!

Lavender bags are said to repel Moths so I have no idea why some were on the Lavender shrub at 9pm (ish) one evening! Strange but true . . . :o)
