Blissful June evening in the garden . . .

Sunny, warm; what more could a girl want? We almost had supper in the garden (we did yesterday evening) but the breeze was a tad chilly by 6.15. So took a walk round, and first stop the lovely alpine mint bush, Prostanthera cuneata

then my favourite climbing rose, Laura Ford; such a lovely fragrance.

At last, the Gladiolus byzantinus is in flower – I love the magenta colour with the purple Cotinus,

and new Osteospermum ‘sunny Sheila’ under the white Wisteria!

Love the vibrant purple of Verbena ‘magic plum’

Philadelphus coronarius aureus with bee (at 2 o’c!)

I do hope you’re enjoying a warm, sunny evening where you are, too :))

It all looks lovely, Sheila! I am very happy with the garden at the moment. We have had some sunny days, good for gardening, but not quite warm enough for sitting out after about 5pm. I am living in hope, though! Just having days outside is pleasing us both, and who knows - perhaps it's all to come!

You were quick, Mel, thanks! Yes, so much to look forward to . . . it's lovely just to wake up and see the blue sky in the morning. We drove down to Ayot St Lawrence this afternoon to see Shaw's garden on the day of the NGS Festival, and about 200 others had the same idea . . . it was bliss to return to the peace of our own patch :)

Its been lovely here as well too warm on the patio but no warmth in the evenings at all, its a shame because I used to love being outside in the evenings best time to smell the perfume but no point if one is uncomfortable...
Lovely photo's Sheila and yes I spotted the bee, lol.....

yes, I wish we were too Sheila..but the wind has only just dropped and it's still cold. However, I must say...sunny Sheila has cheered me up no end! :)

I can sense your real feeling of joy here!

Lovely photos of your pretty plants and the climbing rose is such a beautiful colour.

The days are getting warmer but the evenings down here are still cool at the moment.

Thanks so much Sue, Karen and Chris . . . we're all on the cusp of summer, and just longing for it to arrive properly. Meanwhile, we are lucky to have our lovely gardens to enjoy, and sit in occasionally, even if it's just for a few minutes!

Very nice garden Sheila. I really love your alpine mint bush. I wonder if I can get that here in NY. Also the contrasting foliage of your Philadelphus coronarius aureus.

Thank you Paul. I hope you can find a Prostanthera . . . lovely scent (as has the lime Philadelphus!)

It certainly feels cold enough for snow today, Amy! That's a corner of my new so-called 'Japanesey' garden, which makes me smile every day. Thank you for your kind comments :)

Lovely pictures of your garden Sheila. I am surprised how cold you have it this year. We have summer temperatures and eating our dinners outside for more than a month now. It is almost too hot and no rain . But our summers are known for that. I have to water a lot.

Thanks Klahanie. Yes, we are surprised too by this year's weather! Each day it changes so quickly . . . we have supper outside one evening, then the next it is chilly, then it suddenly gets warm again. Today was very cold first thing, then very warm when the sun came out - crazy. Luckily we have warmer weather forecast for the next two or three days. We'll make the most of it :))
