Well another day of rain and sunny spells and boy is it Humid!! When the sun did come out i walked down the garden and planted out the Penstenoms, well some of them! and whilst there i suddenly noticed butterflies lots of butterflies! Having said on here that i hadn’t seen any all of a sudden there are lots, then when talking to my Mother she said that there would be an invasion of Painted Lady butterflies from abroad apparently thousands were making their way over to England for the summer, well i haven’t seen thousands but heres a few i managed to catch on the Buddleia

Oh and a bee!!!!

You're more successfull at catching butterflies on camera than I am, SK. Well done, lovely photos. Glad you had a good day.

I hadn't seen any before today either SK, well not apart from the cabbage whites, but there were a few painted ladies on my new buddleia today, hopefully the red admirals will follow soon!

I am afraid of moths and butterflies, am quite a phobic, but since Ive been gardening (my first year) I am getting braver, I even watched one quite close today.
The cabbage white ones I catch with a little fishing net I extended, to feed to our chameleon... how brave am I
well I catch them and Cody puts them in his house

whats the name of your budleja?

I get lots of the Cabbage white on my balcony - not feeding though but laying eggs on the leaves of my nasturtiums! Some leaves have holes in them & I've seen clusters of eggs on a few leaves & also, once, 10 or 12 caterpillars all grouped together on one leaf.

I do get plenty of bees - I've taught our 2 year old granddaughter to say Bumblebee! Now every time she see a bee, even if its not a bumblebee, I see several species of bee on the balcony, she says bumblebee! She calls all insects "spider"! So she surprised us a week or so ago when she correctly indentified a spider as a spider! Ants she calls spiders as well as anything that crawls.

Lovely blog SK. The only thing I have seen lately is a bee that was on the Gaillardia we bought from the Garden Centre and it was still there when we got home ??? I didn't have the heart to chase it away so I left the plant until the bee had dissapeared and quickly shoved it in. I don't know if it was the same bee but there was one on there the next time I looked ! ! !

Yes they are Ian...hello...nice to talk to you...have missed you lately...seem to be on a different blog from you or gone to bed!

My old mum always had purple & the old - fashioned pink buddleias in my childhood garden & they were smothered in flutterbyes when I was little. Now all I have is those little white ratbags that lay eggs on the nasturtium leaves!!
