Happy Mothers Day all mothers :o)

Have been to see my mother this morning not forgetting dad of course! But because its mothers day i went to see mum as usual she was busy cleaning!! Gave her her flowers and card i had made then my sister rang up so i nipped outside to look at the garden, mum said they had been busy all yesterday cutting back a cotoneaster that had got too large and pulling ivy off the back of the garage. this is their garden, well part of it please bear in mind my father is 86 in April and my mother is 84 in May the put me to shame, the only help they get is from a man who goes now and then to cut the grass they were waiting for him to go soon hence the long grass.

Dad had got the wall basket ready for potting up summer bedding later on, he can’t walk far so does everything from his scooter! Mum had a knee replacement last year and is now nearly running round lol, i think the garden must have been landscaped at some point before they moved in it has a lot of different plants and is nicely planted with different varieties, the tree in the background against the fence is a Garrya (spelling!!) it has long ‘catkins’, on it in early spring.
Best parents in the world love em to bits :o)

It is lovely for you to have your parents still with you and top marks to them for doing some sorting in their garden. It is nice for them that they can manage to do a bit and your mom sounds quite a bit better with her replacement knee. Wonderful what a difference it makes to people's lives with these procedures.

Its great that they still get enjoyment from their garden, my dad has to use a scooter for getting about but still does all his own grasscutting, he says the mower holds him up and so far it does, lol.
I was a bit iffy this morning as this is only the second Mothering Sunday without my mum but hubby took me out to the family grave where we scattered mums ashes and I had my little chatter and placed my flowers, must admit I felt better after my visit, then I received my gifts from my family, all in all not a bad day.
Best Wishes Sue......

Glad that your Mum and Dad are still around and enjoying their garden. They do very well at keeping it nice. My parents have been gone for a few years but I still miss them, especially at times like these. It's just the fact of being able to give them a ring and talk to them or pop in to see them that I miss and their humour and love, so I'm glad that you cherish yours.
Long may they live.

Late to this blog, SK, I think it's wonderful that your parents are still able to enjoy their garden in their later years. How's your Mum coping with her replacement knee now?
