Sick of snow now thankyou!

Well i have been shut in the house for nearly a fortnight and am fed up now thankyou, please go away snow and ice!!

It doesn’t look like this today i can now see grass but the snow is still there and the ice!

The roads have been atrocious don’t know what our council have been doing but as far as i can see not a lot! There have been numerous complaints about the state of the main roads here, i don’t expect our road to be gritted as its not a main route but all of the main ones were very bad causing long lines of traffic (although why anyone wanted to go anywhere in it i don’t know, apart from work)

I have been keeping myself busy making things,

It’s alright baking but i eat it!!! At this rate i’ll not be able to get out the door lol.
I hope you are all ok and the snow is going from round your houses too all i can say is Toffee and Rocky have the right idea!!!

I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and a warm and sunny New Year!!!!

I'm like you sk, I have made a Christmas cake, a Christmas pudding, mince pies, cranberry sauce and a trial run on a chocolate and orange trifle. I can't get out so I start cooking. If the weather gets bad again and my two sons don't make it up to Scotland from London, my husband and I will have to eat the lot ourselves!!!

Ours beggared off last friday, we didn`t get as much as you Sk but it lasted for 2 wks and like you I was right fed up with it, nice when its white and fluffy but all that ice was a nightmare especially for the workers who have to travel. Your two bundles look really cosy, can`t say I blame them, be nice if we could curl up while someone else did all the work, lol.
Wishing you and all your family A Merry Christmas.......

Funny that - I've been baking, too. I'm glad you're keeping busy. That snow looks absolutely awful! - I do hope it goes away soon.

Oh my, Seaburn, hope you recover quick. Now, fancy going out without ice grippers on your boots... its not the snow that's the problem, its the ice which inevitably follows in terms of falling.
What a lot of snow there, Sewingkilla, and what a lovely lot of baking - that's what I do when I'm stuck in, but I live alone and I eat the lot - wish the extra weight gained during bad weather disappeared like snow does...

Oh no Seaburn!!! Get well soon, i had a funeral to go to today and the roads round here are awful, the ice is hard packed from the traffic on it and now melting in places its soooo bumpy! the paths are like ice rinks was watching the students going to college this morning walking very very slowly!! Bet A & E is busy here too Seaburn.

Hope your snow and ice soon thaw SK we had quite alot too but pleased to say it has now almost gone. One thing about it when you are snowed in it gives you time to do lovely warming things like baking and sewing, love those little hearts are they for the tree or are they lavender bags ? they are very pretty and your tree is looking gorgeous too, not got round to putting mine up yet but have managed to make al my Christmas cards and wrap the presents too !

You certainly had your share, SK, hope you are soon able to get out and about safely again. Your tree is lovely and your two fluffy bundles look warm and cosy. Yesterday Millie decided that jumping into icy puddles was fun, she seemed to like hearing them crack :)

Having seen the weather forecast, Sewingkilla, I suggest you grasp the nettle and head off out tomorrow if you can - looks like you'll be getting another blizzard by Thursday evening.

Lovely blog sewingkilla. It seems from goy that N.Lincs has been hit the hardest with the snow...in England I mean. We still have great heaps of ice on the paths here where everyone cleared their drives, and it's been thawing now for almost a week! I'm hoping that the snow won't reach us on Friday...or you. Looks like it's heading mostly for the very north and the western side of Scotland and Wales. Its making this winter seem soooooo long!

An update of the weather here in Germany: Yesterday depression "Petra" hit us with full force !!!. They had forecast heavy snow during the day...and the stuff came around mid-day..I knocked off work at 13.15 thinking it may have been a bit early but I´m pleased I did go so early, by 16.00 the motorways around here were blocked solid....lorries not being able to get up the hills, at 18.00 nothing was moving anywhere...on the motorways or in town, this morning I left for work at 5.45 to be greeted with very icey roads and at one of the motorway junctions it was a mass of blue flashing lights where several lorries had jack knifed, luckyly I was able to get by them...thanks to my 4 wheel drive car, but now to be honest Iv´e seen enough snow for this year, as from sunday there is meant to be a slight thaw on the way....roll on spring !.

Amen to that Rogi. Take care on the roads!

17 Dec, 2010
