Next instalment of Rocky the puppy

Well Rocky is 10 weeks old now had his last jab yesterday so in a week he can go out for a walk…thank goodness! He is full of energy and needs a good long walk to get rid of some!! He is now house trained (fingers crossed!) not had an accident for about a week just goes out when he needs to, we have a good routine in the morning, i remove the gate he comes bounding out, go into lounge open curtains, back to kitchen remove newspaper (he does one wee at night) open back door off he goes for a poop, comes back in along with the cat toffee, feed them both, Rocky then has a mad half hour full of joy that he’s not on his own now, husband gets up for work Rocky runs round his feet whilst hubby tries to tie his shoelaces lol!

Then when mad half hour over, collapses in a heap for a snooze so i can get my breakfast!!
What a joy he is though, don’t they love life?
Only one problem he is still nipping having problems with that, he just doesn’t want to stop!
Keep saying ‘NO’, and walking away but he’s still doing it any tips anyone?

Oh Rocky! What fun you are going to have - you look like a little bundle of trouble. Adorable. Will you take him to dog training?

He's lovely! Alfie, our 5 month old Rottweiler pup, is still nipping (and his teeth are so sharp). We try to deflect him by giving him a toy to chew on and, as you are already doing, we walk away. I think it's just a matter of perseverence and hope he gets the message. Please let me know if anyone gives you any helpful tips before we run out of elastoplast....:o)

penny nips a lot and im distracting her with chewies(not working)we had our first night walk last night and she didnt like it,barked at anything that moved, cats, grass, moths,me,im told by the vet the nipping should stop as she gets older as puppys like to mouth everything

He is such a cutie, SK, love that photo of him sitting looking out at the 'big wide world'! I always found that 'yelping' (or saying Argh with a suitably pained expression!) when nipped and then turning away, hands tucked under arms out of sight, worked for me. Millie is not a pup but I am attending pup training classes (for socialisation) and have found them very helpful. TT has given me some useful tips too. One idea that I hadn't heard of, for when pups are teething, is to give them ice cubes (sometimes with a treat frozen inside or made with gravy) or to pop their chewy toys into the freezer. Apparently it helps them as they go through the losing milk teeth stage.

thanks everyone, will just have to persevere! Will try the ice cubes Gee am looking into classes haven't found one yet but a lady i rang last night comes to the house to get the pup trained on a lead etc., so you have some control when starting a class am debating wether to give that a go, although i have started training and he sits, gives paw and has just learnt down, tried him on the lead (hates it) but am persevering, i must admit i get frustrated sometimes but try and not show it, as Ceaser Milan says....Calm and Assertive, :o)

I'm sure it will all come together, SK, and it seems Rocky is very willing to learn. Perhaps he might prefer a harness rather than a collar when walking. My daughter's dog was 8 months old when she adopted him and he had never walked on a lead. It was a nightmare but the harness proved more acceptable to him. Good luck :)
