Last day of March

Some more photos of plants that have continued to put on a show after a few warm days.

Two different anemone species under the beech tree.
A blanda

A nemerosa

A large flowered form of Aubretia on the rockery wall

A triple headed Fritillary growing in a dampish bed.

These are growing in the drier rockery and are not as tall.

I think this is F persicaria. growing in a pot as I don’t really know where to plant it permenantly.

Another frit is F imperialis and this is in the front garden.

The marsh marigold is just coming into flower in the pond.

The bed between the fence and the conservatory is very shady

This is a lovely Cardamine and forms a good clump.

An old Epimedium that just gets better and better every year.

Hope you like the plants that are giving me a lot of pleasure at present.

Its Cardamine waldesteinii and I have been really pleased with it. If it sets seed would you like some?

I would be rushing F. persicaria off to a show. You have lots of colour. It fairly cheers us up to see so much growing in spite of the funny weather we have had this year.

What beauties! I've seen double Fritillaries but never triple. The Epimedium is super, such a bright splash!

Beautiful flowers on that ?epimedium. I googled and thought it might be E.pinnatum ssp. colchicum. I saw it on various links. Try http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/PlantFinder/PlantFinderDetails.aspx?kempercode=b487
or https://www.westcountrylupins.co.uk/acatalog/Epimedium-pinnatum-subsp.colchicum-AGM-1774.html#SID=62

Excellent. I love to know the names of plants but now I seem to be forgetting them at an alarming rate. I have taken to printing labels on the P-touch and sticking them on anything I have handy. I have almost used up all the cut up venetian blinds I was recycling. I was really thrown by the chap who is helping me in the garden. He has just finished a two year course at the Ag. college and desperate to learn as much as he can about plants. He suggested I make him a list of their names and he will research to find out about looking after them.
