the big plant sale

me and my daughter Lilly took a selection of our plants from our nursery to the big plant sale in Narbeth Pembrokeshire. we had a lovely day meeting up with lots of friends and talking plants and chickens all day. the sun shone all day and the atmosphere was so friendly. this plant sale is run by a group of local people to raise funds for art projects in the town.

there were at least 30 plant stalls, selling every thing from bedding plants to pond plants, from bamboo to succulants. this sale is held anualy and people know its the first saterday in may. the gates opened at ten oclock. plantahilics all eager to find that special plant, first timers looking for some herbs, came armed with boxes and baskets to carry their new plants home.

my daughter Lilly has been growing herbs this year and this was their first outing. the first coustomer to buy from her was a young girl and her boyfriend. i asked could i take a photo and they agreed. as i took the photo i realised that the boy is the lead singer in a local band that Lilly like to go and see. she then had to phone all her friends and tell them.

a good day was had by all it was nice to catch up with so manyfriends.

Ooooh, I bet I'd have come away with some plants, and I've vowed not to buy any more, lol!!

Well done for recognising the lead singer! I bet the girl thought you were pulling her leg for the photo about being the first buyer! Lol!!

You have some nice healthy looking plants there sandra, I like the Anthemis (cupaniana?) I wish we had those sort of plant sales in London. It looked so calm and civilised! I hope it went well for you.

Fantastic, I wish we had good plant sales like this round our way! Mind you, I haven't got room for anymore. I did, however, see a black Sambucas(like the one you planted recently) today at a Garden Centre and was very tempted but I was strong and resisted!!!! Well, I wasn't that strong. I did sucumb to a smashing Hemerocallis. Well, it won't take up too much room!!!

I have been extremely busy Sandra, but not had very much chance to do as much as I'd like in my own garden. I usually enter my front garden in the local 'In Bloom' (gold last 2 years! getting big headed) but not going to be ready this year. As well as work, I'm constantly running my son around, as he's a comedian (doing clubs/holiday camps etc) but he doesn't drive! |So, i spent this weekend(from lunchtime Friday until 3am Sunday) on the road with him.I'm exhausted so only spent a few hours in garden today and yesterday. Oh well, we can't do everything can we??? Good luck with your open garden day.
Ps Columbia Road market is quite intersting Sandra. But only any good if you've got a strong bladder!!!! No public loos and all the pubs/cafes had signs saying their toilets weren't open when we went!!!

i used to drive my daughters to music lesson/performances, and swimming, the boys to football and rugby. but the oldest two now drive and help out with taking the twins here and there. i dont seem to have anymore spare time though.
well done on the 'in bloom' golds. have you posted photos?
my turn to stay home with the nursery this week as julian is doing some building work. i've spent the day potting up griselinia hedging. we get more good weather tomorrow.

Thanks, I put some of my last year front garden pics on when I first signed up to GOY in Jan but I haven't got previous year's as I didn't do digital till last year.Yes, I think dry here for rest of the week.
Funny you should say about the older ones driving your twins. I've been driving Graeme around since he moved back home last July(and went full time on the road as a comic) but his younger brother Lloyd (5 years younger )actually took him to a gig for the first time last night. (Clacton which isn't too far from us , only about 55 miles) Because I was shattered after Weymouth and Minehead on friday/Saturday.
