About me

I am lucky enough to live in a very beautiful part of France, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The weather reaches extremes, so it has been a steep learning curve to create a garden that can cope with strong winds, frost and snow in winter and scorching heat in the summer. A lot of plants have been lost while learning. The garden was scooped out of a wild hillside and is on three levels. Consequently, there are steep, brambled banks to keep under control. Hopefully, that will continue to keep me fit. The current project is creating a vegetable patch and orchard on the 2nd level. An electric fence has been erected to keep out the wild boar - so far so good. Fruit trees include cherries, apricots, figs, apples, plums and almonds.

I get back to the UK often to meet up with my two daughters and little grandson (pictured) who live in London.
