A wonderful memory of Rick’s 80th birthday.

It has been very hard to come to terms with as it was so sudden, but now I can look back on all our very happy times together.
He would have been 82 two weeks after he passed.
I am thankful for all the years we had together.
I have been looking in now and then and have also been taking photos of the garden which has helped me to cope.
There are quite a lot, so I apologise for that!

Rick’ favourite rose Graham Thomas and funnily enough, Rick’ middle name was Graham and his son’s Thomas!

Partof the rose garden.

Gertrude Jekyll The perfume just follows you around.

I have never had this clematis before and don’t know its name. Do any of you know?

Cornus Kousa and the first year it has flowered properly!

Perennial border which I changed yet again last Autumn

A fern for Rick, his favourite plant!

I changed this as the last two years the Dahlias grew too tall and hid all the clematis.

This was named after Princess Diana too but not sure of the correct name!

This one is for you Shirley and is doing very well!

And last but not least…I can hear you all sighing!
The new patio which I had been waiting over 4 years for!

Thank you for looking in and for caring!

Rose, how lovely to see you on here again and I love your photos, especially your beautiful Roses and the one of Rick cutting into his cake! I spotted some Alstroemerias in one photo but a few GoY folk have said they can be quite 'thuggish' so that's put me off planting any. I shall just buy them fortnightly for indoors. Thanks for showing the Fuchsia, it has really taken to your garden. Love the patio, well worth the wait.
I think that gorgeous Clematis is C. florida alba plena, commonly known as Virgin's bower. It's a smashing one!

Take care, enjoy your garden ... :o) x

Hello Rose, such wonderful photos of your stunning plants and garden. I do hope they help you with the loss of your Rick. That is a lovely photo of him on his 80th birthday and no wonder he loved Graham Thomas, it's a beautiful rose, yours a much better specimen than mine. You have some gorgeous roses, I love the pink one on the pergola and the one over the gate, you must spend hours keeping everything looking so beautiful.
Thinking of you. x

Dear Rose your garden is a picture and looks really beautiful. It has so many pretty corners which just explode with colour. You must have worked so very hard out there.

Its a lovely garden Rose, you've worked hard in it as we can see by your photos, its a smashing one of Rick enjoying his special day.. Your roses are a joy to see, its a good year for them, they have certainly bounced back from last years struggle but then I think all of our gardens have, I was beginning to think we were in for another long hot dry summer but we've had a lot of rain in the last two weeks so that fear has gone, for a while at least... Take care Rose xx.

Thanks Sue, I do love my garden and I feel better out there for a while.
I don't think we are getting much summer this year and now too much rain! We can't win can we!
It's what to do when it is raining though!
I am pleased I have goy to look at and see all the lovely gardens.
Not looking forward to the winter this year!

Thank you Kidsgran and you are right, my garden does help.

Rose, I'm so very sorry. I was so sure I'd posted a message to you. Apologies, and my heartfelt condolences.
Rick looked a lovely chap, it's nice to see a photo of him. I do hope you and your family are sharing lots of hugs and memories.
You're garden is abundance blooming with beautiful colour. The roses and hydrangeas are magnificent! Gardening and pottering around out there will no doubt bring you some peace in your sadness. It will keep you busy and it's always therapeutic as we all know, even when the showers appear without warning!
Look after yourself and I wish you and your family my best wishes x

Thank you so much Kate. I am lucky to have my family close by and to have many lovely friends too.
You are right about the garden, it does help when I am out there, but just lately there has been such a lot of rain and strong winds that the poor garden looks battered.
Still..that will give me another job to do when the sun shines! xx
