I'm 49 and live in Muswell Hill, north London, where I look after our 100-foot garden. It's lovely, despite the clay soil and abundant slugs.

We also have a weekend cottage in north Norfolk, where the soil is fine and light and wonderful - the only problem being that the moles like it too!

I garden to create a place that is beautiful rather than things that are edible.
