Happy Christmas everyone, and hope you all have a good New Year and 2014.
Yes, we havent been online for ….. some years now! We moved to a lovely cottage, got an allotment, little joy from that as the weather the last 2 years hampered most attempts at growing, although it did provide some basics. Also sadly our 2 chucks were gotten by Mr fox, we think. No more chucks for a while.
So, as it stands now, we have decided to move – to France! Bought an old converted barn with 2000sq mts of garden in Haute Vienne, so plenty of scope to start afresh with veg and plants, and maybe some small creatures! A blank canvas. Excited but also scary. But looking forward to the challenge. Will have plenty more time on our hands now to keep up with happenings on ‘grows on you’ and will be posting hopefully more frequently.
All the best everyone and hope 2014 is a good growing year.

Thank you all. Now settled a bit after making the final move at the end of Feb. Have begun the veg patches, made 2 plots so far and started onions, spuds, garlic, potatoes, and other small green edibles. Karin is 'planting by the moon' and is really into it and convinced. I must say the difference in growth rate is remarkable.. Cant beat old folk lore! Also had much fun rebuilding an old drystone barn wall in the ruined courtyard, as well as creating patio area. I must say french drystone wall construction is an art. I did cheat a bit and use some cement, sorry purists, but I anted to make sure it stayed up, my first attempt! I am going to add some pictures soon in a new blog.
