I can't remember who gave me the advice on my ailing cherry trees but thank you> I am sure you are right that it is an aphid infestation. As the trees are way to big to "attack" them please can some tell me what I should do to protect the plants which are struggling to survive underneath them - a variety - eleagnus, nasturtiums, roses, sebum, ceanothus (Ground cover) and various others Many
thanks

It was Steragram. Its best to reply in the 'add comment' box as its more likely to be seen by the member who answered it and it keeps your dialogue going.

I'm sorry- short of getting rid of the aphids I don't know how to stop the "black stuff" - I think its a mildew that grows on the honeydew that the aphids drop.

How do I say thanks?
