Have these in my garden and not sure if they are a weed or not. Much like a dandelion gone to seed but much larger. Not a clematis.
Ok, just updated with a pic of the flower this morning.

It is one of the hawkweed family, much like a dandelion. they can be pretty but seed around a lot. It would normally be classed as a weed.

Hi Lilcrawford I have these to and consider them a weed but let them stay as they are easy enough to pull up and add colour and height. A weed to me is classed a weed when it's something growning too well and some would say where it isn't wanted.

Ok figured it was a weed. Thanks Bulbaholic and Dbv. I do like your attitude regarding weeds Dbv :)

When it is in flower look to see whether the flowers are only open in the morning. If so it will be a plant popularly called Jack go to Bed at Noon or Goat's Beard. Its Latin name is Tragopogon pratensis - if you Google that you may be able to confirm whether that's what it is.

I've never queried Bulbaholic before, but the hawkweeds don't have such long slender flower buds.

A weed if you wish to call it one, Lil,though personally I wouldn't let it seed around. Btw, I never said that I loved the picture of the seedhead that you first showed.

Ok, thanks again Bulb....don't think I inferred you 'loved' the pic? Apologies if I did.

No, no Lil, you have that the wrong way round. To be clearer, I intended to say how much I loved the picture but never got round to it.

Ah Bulba, close is near enough! :))
Thanks for the pic Lil - Sure that's what it is now..
