Looks like fertiliser granules.

Okay ... thanks. I didn't want to plant eggs of some sort.
When I squash them with my finger nails they are sort of damp inside ... does that sound right for fertiliser granules please ?

Looks like slow release firtilizer!

That's a relief ... I'd just not come across any like that, and was concerned they might be insect eggs ... or something worse... LOL.

Yeah fertiliser stuff is gooey in middle which makes it even more confusing. UK insect eggs tend to be much smaller and clear/white.

Thanks Kildermorie and Gingerboy ...
Kind of you to reply so promptly.
Much appreciated :o)))

Osmocote, a slow release general fertiliser, works for at least six months and is activated by temperature so that the plants don't get over fertilised.......clever stuff I think.
