We have a lavender tree which appears to be slowly dying. My husband fed it a few weeks ago but it hasn't picked up. We bought this early last year and was okay until a few weeks ago.

You haven't said whereyou are in the UK, but even here in West London, my lavenders aren't doing anything much at the moment. The growing season is only just beginning, so perhaps you're just being a bit impatient.

Thank you for your reply. We live in the North West and it appears to be deteriating by the day. I have a neighbour whose lavender "bushes" look okay but our "tree" doesn't? I hope we are being impatient.

Hello and welcome to Goy Kathandalan can we please have a photo of your lavender tree.

I dont have a lavender tree but have many lavender plants which are all now spurting into growth.

Be patient I am sure it will soon .

Is it planted in the ground or in a pot?

Scotkat has asked exactly the question I was going to add - is it in a pot or the ground? Also, what part of the UK are you in?

We are in South Manchester and the lavender is in a large pot. We will take a picture of it but may have trouble downloading (we struggle with the size of the pic) but will try.

You need to resize the photograph before attempting to post it on here, usually.
It might be the pot that's causing the problem - how large is the plant and how big is the pot (deep and wide), and does the pot have good drainage if you can't post a picture. Feeding before growth begins 'a few weeks ago' won't have helped, frankly.

Here in Essex my lavenders show no sign of any new growth. I have one that has a lot of bare stem at the base in a big pot and I am wondering how much to shave off the top. Not supposed to go into old woody stems when you do that.

We measured the pot and it is 33cm diameter by 33 cm deep. We are now pretty sure that it is dying as it is deteriating by the day. Should we remove from the pot and plant in the garden?

I certainly think its worth taking it out of the pot, if for no other reason than to check for invaders like ants or vine weevil. And yes, planting it out might help, if its not already too late - water well if needed after planting. And add some feed like Growmore or similar in the bottom of the hole at the same time.

How do I say thanks?
