Clematis

I have a winter flowering Clematis which was growing fine then the leaves started to fall off and now some leaves are mottled and going brown please help.

If it is a large well established rhododendron then whilst the eaten leaves look unsightly the shrub will survive. The real problem is the vine weevil grubs in the soil which happily chomp on the roots of plants.

If there are notches taken from the edge of the leaves then it is likely to be vine weevil.
