Can we have a closer picture of the 'horseshoe' on the flowers? That helps no end with id.

I can put up a closer crop...I will go back and try to get a better picture in a while.

The leaves seem to have a definte 'pleat' along the center. This would make it Galathus plicatus.

And the green markings are also consistent with G. plcatus.

Have you also altered the wording of the question, Pimpernel. Did not the original say that this galanthus was growing amongst G. nivalis in a woodland? If so, it is not Colossus or any other named variety, but something different. The named varieties are originaly chance seedlings from the wild or the garden that look particularly good and are named. They are then multiplied up by division or by vegetative means. If this one is in the wild then it is unique.

No..Bulba, my Q has not altered. I just googled and Galanthus plicatus and looked for one that looked like it. Though this one still looked like the leaves were bigger and greyer.

Sorry then, Pimpernel, I must have been thinking of something else. Senior moment. The leaves of plicatus are green when they emerge in winter and slowley go grey.

How do I say thanks?
