Olive tree

We have an olive tree approx 10 years old-and so far we haven't seen a single olive.
We live just south of London and the tree is in the ground not in a pot. It has survived several severe winter and it looks very healthy. Can anybody tell us if there is anything we can do to encourage the tree to produce olives? Also should we be pruning it as it has branches near the ground and if we should prune what is the best time?
Unfortunately we do not know the type of olive tree as we bought it from a mail order and no longer have the paperwork.
Thank you
