Mine start indoors, get pricked out, graduate to the greenhouse, are potted on and then get hardened off before being planted out. I still reckon on a couple of months before being ready for planting

You need to work back from when the danger of frost has passed outdoors. I reckon my plants can go out in mid May and for that I'm sowing around mid to late March
