What is the name of this plant please and do they flower often?

Middlesex, United Kingdom Gb

I have had this plant for several year, don`t know it`s proper name. This is the first time it has flowered. I would like to know a little more about it please.

This is I think Crassula portulacea (Jade Plant). Usually flowers in Spring, often only as the plant gets to a large size.

I agree it is a Crassula Gillian but I think it is a bit too big for portulaceae so is probably the Crassula ovata also known as the Jade plant or Money tree. I used to have one in my waiting room, but it never brought me any money. Lol.

I am a bit amazed - is it really outside now? I have looked it up and it won't tolerate frost - I hope it's OK with all the cold weather we have had - and more forecast!

Good grief Spritz. My bad back must be giving me the weirdos again. I hadn't noticed. You are of course right.

Thanks, John. I do hope that Mum2randa reads these answers and that it is safe and not an ex-Crassula!

Many thanks for the answers everyone, nice to read your answers....no it isn`t an ex-Crassula. It resides quite happily in my porch at the front of the house where it gets a lot of light, bright sunshine in the morning and still plenty of light in the afternoon. It was only outside for a short while to take the photo.
I do want to repot it soon, partly so that I can pot on all the little baby crassula`s that have rooted around the base of the plant. Can any of you tell me the best medium for potting these into please?

I rather think that mine was just planted on into a bog standard supermarket compost. Despite the fact that it doesn't like the cold I rather think that it isn't too worried about its growing medium as long as it doesn't get water logged.

It is recommended they be repotted every 2 to 3 years and to mimic their natural habitat, mix 75% grit with 25% peat. This encourages strong roots and stops it becoming top heavy due to over watering.
If you want to wait until I come over I'll do it for you, I have some grit and peat lying around....

Certainly wouldn't get waterlogged in that mixture, Fleurdemai. Lol.

I'll checked it out on several webpages John. If I am going to obtain one I'd might as well make sure it doesn't die...LOL

You`re welcome to come and re-pot the Mummy crassula and all the little baby ones Fleurdemai!! Then of course, I`m going to need some good homes for them all - how many would you like???????????????

I'll repot them and grow them on for a few months, maybe one or two members might like to have one?

I am really glad to hear that it isn't an ex-Crassula! How exciting that it's a Mummy!

It sounds as if you will be starting a Crassula Nursery, Mum2randa. LOL.

I don`t think so Spritzhenry! We gave birth to the babies, Fleurdemai can run the Crassula Nursery if he feels so inclined! :--)) - there are at least 20 babies need potting on, I don`t have room for all these little ones.

If you go to my latest photos I have just posted pictures of a large one of these in a greenhouse - you may need to make more room!
