thanks moon growe.yes the spuds are in full sun but i dont think my husband is watering enough.he thinks that when it rains that is enough.unfortunately we have lock blocked the garden tubs and containers is all we can grow things in.will pass on your comments to david.

Relying on rain water to water your potatoes is far to hit and miss. You need to water regularly in pots, if they are in the ground you have a little more latitude but even so they will need watering.

I have never watered my potatoes in the ground and they have cropped beautifully - but then I live in West Wales.

Yes, but I was replying to your comment that in the ground they still need watering. Not contradicting you, just being grateful that I don't have to water as often as lots of you.

Ours are in the ground and are watered rarely, we usually get a lot of rain but if we have sun for several days and a strong wind himself puts the sprinkler on. Had to do so in April!
