My lovely Phalanopsis is dead. I attach photos and has anyone any ideas why it died and should I throw it away or wait and see if it might reshoot? I watered it once a week with tepid water and I have had it since Mother's Day!! The third photo was obviously when it was in full glory.

Any advice would be welcome.

As the flower stem went brown from the bottom, my guess is that you never emptied the cache pot after watering. My second guess is that when you watered it you allowed water to collect in the crown of the plant.

I agree with Meanie, if you had forgotten to water it would have died from the top. I take mine out of the cache pots and hold under the tap allowing water to run through and the roots to absorb some water but never let them sit in water.

Many thanks for your advice and you are right that I did not let the water drain before putting it back in the pot. I will remember for the next one.

How do I say thanks?
