Is it ok to prune a Broom? Appeared in the garden a few years ago and now is very spindly I have put a stake in to keep the branches together in the winds. I have left the pea like seeds on

Only pruning the plant will tolerate is a light clip over after flowering, unfortunately - cut into old wood and it's likely to die. If you have seed, might be worth growing from that instead.
