I want to make a raised border around the edges of my garden bearing in mind that the garden is surrounded by wood fencing/concrete posts. What I need to know is how I avoid any damage/rot to the wood part of the fencing

Build the borders up in troughs. If you build one or have one made to size, it will look fine and not damage the fence.

What are you going to build the raised beds with? If using bricks, just leave a little gap between the fence and raised bed to allow for air flow to keep the fence dry, and the same applies to wooden beds too, but you'd have to make sure the side nearest to the fence is waterproof, so you could line it with polythene, wrapping it over the back of the bed and tacking it with nails. Hope that helps. Annie
