Eucalyptus success!
I took your advice and cut down the tree in late March and for several weeks I thought I'd killed it. However it now has a mass of young growth from the base and looks pretty good, so thank you!

Told you! I'm glad it took off, you must have been holding your breath while it just sat there, looking at you and doing nothing... I think it makes a very attractive shrub too, if you don't mind the bare look early in the year before it gets going.
