Need more specific info - did it leaf up this year in spring? Any blossom at all? I'm assuming its in the ground and not a pot, is that correct? What's happening to the leaves, if it has any?

I note that Mick has now been summarily removed as a new member for being rude and cursing - which makes my response above look like its apropos of nothing at all, so best ignore it Jilldill and just look at the first answer.

Ah, there you are. How long have you had this tree can I ask, and did you have, as we did in London, a very dry April and May?

and yes it is in the ground it is ten years plus old

yes it was very dry in april may

Drought then - cherries root pretty close to the surface, so prolonged periods of drought when the fruit is setting will cause this - first the fruit stops swelling, then it usually falls, and if the drought continues, the leaves drop off, all so the tree can remain alive. If you haven't had large amounts of significant rain yet, then leave the hose trickling at the base of the tree overnight.
