I bought Allium bulgaricum several years ago (1996) from McConnell's catalog, now a friend tells me they are a kind of Frittilaria. Were they renamed?

On plant Allium bulgaricum

I think it's now called Nectaroscordium siculum subsp bulgaricum. Nectaroscordium used to be an allium but I don't think it ever got into the fritillary family
