Thinning out apples, I would be grateful if anybody has any suggestions as to when and how you do this.

Pears, are they the same?

Thank you

i could well bewrong but i wasnt aware you did thin apples out . i think you keep the actual tree down to a managable size so not to many can grow on it anyway and its easier to look after .

Your fruit tree will drop a lot of the immature fruit in June (commonly known as the June drop) and only retain the fruit it can actually grow to size. I don't remove any fruit myself.

Thanks to both of you, I`ll contain my impatience till June drop, it was just that this year it looks as though every bit of blossom has set, like a crab.
