As long as the soil is not frozen then yes. Give it a good feed as you plant if it is not doing well in the pot. They like a shady spot in leafy soil.

I totally agree and if it has become pot pound remember to loosen the roots. research shows that they grow away better if planted into a square hole as the roots are able to 'break out' better.

I also have a Skimmia in a pot, its thriving but every year many of the leaves turn yellow, they don't drop off though, thanks for asking Kate also O'b and Seaburn, I now think I need to move it to a shadier spot., I've always been a bit doubtful about putting it into my garden as I've lost so many over the years...Might treat myself to another one for the long border as its quite shady right down the bottom end..
