When I was up at my allotment today I noticed that in my potato bed, where the little plants are just starting to come up, there were patches of soil which had toadstool/mushroom like growths on them. Does anyone know what this means - if anything?

Possibly from compost you spread

If anything, it indicates you have a healthy vibrant growing plot. Things are happening. I tend to get mushrooms/toadstools following lots of rain. They are the fruits or flowers of certain fungi that lives in the soil and are usually beneficial and necessary for plants to thrive - but don't eat them.

Thank you Bathgate and Moon grower. I won't worry about it then.

I am trying to post photos of the rhubarb with holes in the leaves but can't get them off my phone at the moment.
