Hello Piper,
I have exactly the same problem, found black fly which caused new leaves to curl and darken also some leaf eater I cant find. Seems to be common with this plant as all Red Robins I have seen have this problem. Garden Centre expert told me to cut off all effected parts and feed with Vitrax Q4. Has improved since.
