I have a wall climbjng plant that has started bearing what looks like fruit but not sure. They are orange I in colour longer than they are wide and largest one is about 2.5 inches long....any idea what it might be?

Yep, Passiflora and yes, the fruits are edible, though not necessarily particularly palatable.

Passion flower (passiflora caerulea) yes they are edible but not very tasty. Please check that this is what they are, I take no responsibility for poisoning you!!
