How long's it looked like this? And how long has it been planted, assuming its in the ground? Where in the UK are you - somewhere near a coastline?

Assuming that it was a Grevillia I would say it was hit by a frost - they're not fully hardy in the UK and this looks as if it is in an exposed situation.
